Wonderland Magazine Interview
LA lovely Sky Ferreira is in London to play a host of gigs so Wonderland talked to her about changing direction, crying at Fiona Apple concerts and being the face of Saint Laurent Paris. Plus, a Unicorn Kid remix of ‘Everything Is Embarrassing’.

Tell us about your change of direction since ‘One‘.
I got signed when I was 15, and I had a lot of people telling me what I should do, and I didn’t necessarily agree with it but I was like, “I guess I’ll try it”. After ‘One’, they were like, “Oh your song didn’t do well…” It got attention, but it didn’t sell anything, which was actually for the best, because I don’t think I really wanted to make that kind of music to begin with.

It was a great track though.
It was a great track – totally. I don’t regret it.

Tell us how you hooked up with Dev Hynes for ‘Everything Is Embarrassing‘.
I met Dev Hynes through mutual friends. We were always trying to work together. My publicist sent it to Pitchfork and they posted it and made it best new track, and it got traction from there.

Your album will be dropping later this year. You’re like a Cassie figure – the longer you’ve been away, the more the mystique and expectation have built.
Yeah, that’s why I have to make sure it’s good! Some people might be disappointed because it’s not ‘One’ or ‘Obsession’, but there are still a lot of pop elements in it. It’s a lot more guitar driven, there are acoustic songs and it’s very stripped down. A lazy, easy comparison would be Blondie.

Who have you been collaborating with on this one?
I worked with Jon Brion on half of it and then Ariel Rechtshaid on the other half. Ariel produced that Usher’s song ‘Climax’, which is completely different to what we’re doing, and then he did Vampire Weekend. Jon Brion did Elliott Smith and Fiona Apple.

I was going to say that some of your new work has a bit of an early Fiona Apple feel to it.
Yeah she’s a really big influence – always was. She was my number one idol as a kid. I’ve seen her play like 10 times, and I cried the second time. I cried at the front. It was so embarrassing!

Discreet tears or full-on sobs?
I wasn’t sobbing. Definitely tears though!

A lot of your artwork and videos remind me of a young Vanessa Paradis.
Yeah, and Nastassja Kinski is a very big person for me. Vanessa Paradis as a teenager! She’s still glamorous. I love all that look of French girls, like Brigitte Bardot.

How did you get approached to be the face of Saint Laurent Paris?
Hedi Slimane and I met a few years ago, and always kept in touch. He took photos of me for his diary, then he did my artwork, and then asked me to do Saint Laurent. So yeah!

You’re touring North America with How To Dress Well. Great combo.
Yeah it’s going to be a cool tour I think. We have mutual friends, and we like each other’s music. We thought it’d be a fun tour.

What’s your go-to album at the moment?
Kendrick Lamar. That’s my favourite album of last year. I love his music, but I think it’s also the LA in me. I’m from Venice Beach. When I listen to him, I’m like “LA! Yay – repping the West Coast finally.”

Are you off to some Paris fashion shows whilst you’re here in Europe?
Yeah. I skipped New York fashion week this time, but I’m going to Givenchy and Saint Laurent next week. Riccardo Tisci was one of the first people – even during my whole break – who had me play his parties. He’s really supportive. And I’m playing a show at Silencio, David Lynch’s nightclub there.

Tell us what it’s like shooting with Mario Testino, Terry Richardson and Hedi Slimane.
They’re all quite different. Hedi’s thing is quite intimate, you know, and then Terry is just like my friend. We just hang out.

Is he still getting his dick out all the time?
I think he’s stopped that – too much commercial work! And Testino’s a bit more glamorous. That’s like shooting like a diva.

Sky Ferreira’s EP Everything is Embarrassing will be released 8th April on Polydor. She plays tonight at White Heat and tomorrow at XOYO, London. skyferreira.tumblr.com

Stefani talks about balancing her solo career and balancing work with motherhood. 'I did my first solo record and went on tour while I was pregnant.

'I would want to throw up during certain songs. Certain outfits would make me sick. It was torture. I toured until I was four and a half months pregnant, showing,'
 she said.

The singer added: 'I came home and had Kingston, and when he was eight months old, I went back on the road.

'I nursed him for fourteen months, so I would literally do my hair and makeup, go back to the bus, nurse him, put him down, and walk out onstage. And I did that for 100 shows.'

While taking a break from music, she has been raising her boys Kingston, six, and Zuma, four, along with building up her L.A.M.B. fashion brand.

Although the California native admits, she stopped designing for L.A.M.B. after Kingston entered kindergarten and a woman named Paula Bradley took over.

Kendall Jenner is seriously proving time and time again that her ability to make it big in the modeling industry has nothing to do with her last name.

The eldest of the Jenner sisters landed her second cover of the month with Panamanian magazine "Blank" and she is almost unrecognizable.

The cover features Kendall in red stiletto nails and red lips with over the top eye makeup posing to the tee. Kendall shared the cover and corresponding shots with her Instagram followers, and of course Kourtney supported her lil sis by jumping on Twitter and writing: "Um.... @KendallJenner, you look INSANE here!!! SO gorgeous!"

    Gwyneth Paltrow photoshop poop(fail)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

When we caught a glimpse of InStyle UK's January 2013 cover feature Gwyneth Paltrow, our first thoughts were: where's Gwyn?

Seriously, the shot of the actress makes her look... different. There seems to be a glazed-over feeling to the cover -- like an intense retouching session gone wrong. It took a second for us to register that that was even Gwyneth's face. And anyone else noticing the strange juxtaposition of her foot and thigh? For a hot second we thought she was three-legged. So yah: different.

Strange photo editing and awkward leg positioning aside, the styling is pretty spot on. The GOOP blogger rocks a pink coat and a nude dress, both from the Fall 2012 collection (and both good choices for the blonde, if we say so ourselves). Inside the mag, Gwyneth dishes to designer friend Diane von Furstenburg about husband Chris Martin, her kids and her diet -- aka her juice cleanse of the week.

Vanessa Hudgens graces the cover of Harper's Bazaar Arabia

Vanessa Hudgens takes the December 2012 cover of Harper’s Bazaar Arabia.

The 23-year-old actress showed off an edgier side inside the glossy mag, chatting about Spring Breakers, Gimme Shelter and more. Check it:

On Spring Breakers: “I’ve never been on spring break, I’ve never gone to college or    had this group of girlfriends to go away with. So this is kind of like the opportunity to do it. I became very, very close with these girls. We had such an amazing experience together; it felt like it was our own little spring break. We allowed ourselves to let loose and push each other and see how far we could take it.”

On getting in the mindset of a pregnant teen on Gimme Shelter: “It was a lot of fun after I got past those initial feelings of shock at the environment and I could just hang out with the children and the moms. They were completely cool with me, they were very welcoming and they really opened up to me which was really, really sweet. They let me pick their minds and get inside of their heads. It was definitely devastating, but it’s the reality of what happens to them.”

On looking up to Meryl Streep: “She has such an amazing, long career, and that’s the goal – a long career! She has done everything there is to do under the roof, and been brilliant at everything she does. She’s the master of her craft – and that’s her priority – her craft. She is just astonishing.”

    Cute pics from her website!
